This week we encountered another awesome project! MINIONS! It was over the entire week we had to find safe and fun techniques that would make sure the #Minion stood at the right height. In the end, it ended up looking like Kevin!
Before we begin, if you haven’t seen the new Minions movie, definitely go and see it in the theaters!
We had started off laughing hysterically all because we were attempting to talk like a minion would, then it went even further, laughing like a minion does. Because who really knows how to belly laugh?? Doesn’t it sound like you’re belly laughing!?
The cake we used was chocolate and wedding cake. It was a very uneasy cake before we had filled it and set it in the fridge overnight. When making a cake like this. Tall and skinny, you must always refrigerate it overnight to ensure stability when working on it for a long period of time. Usually when we work on a cake, we like to trim it up into the proper shape or design, then what we like to call dirty ice, others use technical terms (crumb coat). WE LIKE THE STREET SLANG! Once you have gotten to a stopping point, refrigerate again overnight.
The next day come in and prepare your details; fondant work, colors of butter cream, etc. Then pull your Minion out of the fridge. Once you frost your minion, you want to smooth it down, making sure there aren’t any wrinkles showing through. Put it back in the fridge.
After you let your minion set in the fridge for an hour or two, pull it out, and begin to decorate your minion. In this case scenario, we’re going to have a female minion. You want to add the clothes, then the hair, and finally her goggles. Once you have finished your minion, be sure to snap a picture, and send it over to us!
I understand we didn’t go into great detail, but it’s very simple when thinking of how to make a minion. If you have any questions or just want to say hi! Feel free to send us fan mail! Click here
As always, Keep Life Sweet!
